Movement Assessments (ACE): Shoulder Push Stabilization

Purpose: Detect observable muscular deviations related to overactive and under-active skeletal muscle.

Equipment: None

Procedure: 

  • Begin by instructing the subject to lie prone on the ground with shoulders abducted and elbows flexed in a push-up position.
  • Instruct the participant to perform push ups until elbows are fully extended before returning to the floor.
  • Carefully observe scapular movement specific to the bottom and top of the movement for scapular protraction. 
  • Observe the pressing movement and record and hyperextension of the lumbar spine.
